We are excited to announce a Monday Night Science event featuring local West Virginia artist and author Rosalie Haizlett!

Please join us on Monday, December 2nd, 2024, as we host Rosalie Haizlett for a book talk and signing to celebrate the release of her second book, Tiny Worlds of the Appalachian Mountains: An Artist’s Journey (Mountaineers Books, 2024). Tiny Worlds chronicles Rosalie’s 6-month journey from Alabama to Newfoundland in 2022 as she hiked daily and looked for small, often-overlooked flora, fauna, and fungi. She painted and wrote about her observations along the way, and the finished book includes more than 150 watercolor paintings and illustrated maps. This book is a celebration of Appalachian biodiversity and an invitation to tune into our natural surroundings in a deeper way. Families will get a behind-the-scenes look at her adventures and artwork and the opportunity to participate in a Q&A following the talk. After the book talk, Rosalie will guide guests through an interactive nature journaling activity to help us become better observers using simple drawing and painting techniques.
