CHARLESTON, WV – Ms. Desiree Henriksen has been named as director of the 2012 National Youth Science Camp. Henriksen represented Wyoming at the 2001 NYSC and has served on the Foundation’s staff each summer since. Dr. Andrew Blackwood, executive director of the Foundation, is excited that Henriksen has accepted this new challenge. Blackwood says, “Dez is dedicated to STEM education and knows the traditions and methods of the NYSC. She is the perfect person for this assignment.”
Henriksen earned bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and secondary education from the University of Wyoming and a master’s in teaching chemistry from Indiana University. She is currently a science teacher at Waynesboro High School in Waynesboro, Virginia.
