From the Foundation’s Chairman, the Honorable Ronald G. Pearson: The National Youth Science Foundation received with great sadness the news that a loyal and prestigious alumnus, Omar Ahmad, died suddenly of a heart attack. Omar, like many of our alumni, gave unselfishly of his ideas, and energy to help the Foundation become a stronger organization at a critical point in its existence. He often provided ideas and encouragement to many NYSC Directors and to Foundation Trustees. He sought ways to strengthen the NYSC program, and permit it to be able to reach more students each year. Most recently in July 2010, I had the pleasure of meeting with Omar in San Francisco and received his encouragement for plans the Foundation is considering to attract students from the Middle East to a new program. It is with great sadness that we acknowledge receipt of the news of his passing. I know that he will be missed by many of his fellow alumni and friends and his local community of San Carlos, California, where he served as Mayor.
